Your logo's first home is a small circle

Before anyone walks through your door, they've probably met your beauty salon logo in a circle the size of a fingernail: the profile picture on your Instagram or your booking page. After that it goes on the window, appointment cards, gift vouchers and, if you sell products, the labels on your shelves.

The circle is the hardest of those. It crops the corners, and it sits tiny in a feed next to your own busy photos of hair and nails. A long script name inside it shrinks to a thread. So most salons need two versions: the full logo for the window and cards, and a compact mark for the circle, like your initials or one simple symbol on your brand color.

When the logo is your name

Plenty of people in beauty work under their own name: the stylist with a loyal following, the makeup artist who travels, the nail tech with a room in a shared salon. Clients book you, so your name is the brand, and a signature logo suits it. One of our AI examples, Luna Rose Studio, is exactly that: the name in a delicate dusty-rose script, and nothing else.

Script lettering needs care. Choose a script whose capitals you can read, because some scripts turn an L into a loop that could be anything. Avoid hairline strokes, which look elegant on a big screen and vanish on a phone in sunlight. If there's a second word, like Studio, set it in plain capitals spaced out a little, so the script has something calm beside it. Our guide to picking a logo font covers what to pair a script with.

An honest opinion: if you might move salons or open your own one day, a logo built on your name moves with you. A salon's name doesn't.

Different chairs, different logos

Hair salons

The usual symbols are scissors, a comb and the profile of a woman with flowing hair. Think twice about the silhouette. It's on salon windows everywhere, its fine strands blur at small sizes, and it quietly tells some of your clients the place isn't for them. A confident wordmark, or one simple shape like a single curl, does more.

Nail studios

A polish bottle or a single nail shape works, and color is part of the brand. Tie the logo to a signature shade if you have one, but keep it to one or two colors. Glitter and gradients shine on nails and turn muddy on printed cards.

Makeup artists

Many work under their own name, so the section above is for you too. A brush stroke behind the name can work. A lipstick kiss is the cliché to skip: it says lipstick, when your work is the whole face.

Lash and brow bars

The default is an eye with long lashes, and the lashes are the problem. Thin and many, they merge into a gray smudge at icon size. Look for a design with fewer, thicker lashes, or a simple almond-shaped eye.

Barbershops

Barbering has the strongest look of the lot: vintage badges, the striped pole, crossed scissors and straight razors. Our AI example Old Harbor Barbers uses most of it: a striped pole with crossed scissors and combs over a harbor, above a Classic Cuts ribbon. A badge like that looks great on a window or a T-shirt. In a profile circle it gets crowded, so keep a simpler mark too, like the pole alone. Our logo ideas have more vintage badges made with our AI.

Gold, foil and other finishes

Gold is everywhere in beauty, and it looks expensive or cheap depending on how it's made. On a screen, gold is yellow and brown with painted highlights. On a business card, real gold comes from foil stamping: the printer presses a thin metallic foil onto the card with a metal plate cut to your logo's shape. That plate needs a flat logo in one color, with no shading.

If you love gold, plan two versions: a shiny one for your website and posts, and a flat, one-color version for the foil. Our Gold style in the AI generator draws the shiny kind: polished, 3D and full of highlights, which no foil plate can reproduce. Our templates give you SVG and PDF files and a black version, which is what a foil printer wants.

Starting here, and testing it on a phone

Each template higher up this page already spells out your salon's name. Its text, fonts, colors and spacing are all yours to edit at no charge, no sign-up needed. The editor won't redraw a symbol, though, so if yours is missing, search our logo templates for “scissors” or “comb”.

For a one-of-a-kind design, our AI logo generator sits just below the templates, preset to Hair Salon & Beauty. The Signature style writes your name as a script, like Luna Rose Studio. Vintage draws badges like Old Harbor Barbers.

Before you pay for anything, screenshot your favorite, crop it to a small circle and look at it on your phone next to your real photos. Would it survive in one flat color, too? With the files in hand, our free logo checker tests them at favicon size and against white and dark backgrounds.

FAQ

Beauty Salon Logo Maker questions

No. A line like “Hair · Nails · Lashes” turns tiny in a profile picture, and services change faster than logos. Keep the logo to your name, plus one word if the name doesn't say what you do: Studio, Salon, Barbers. Put the list of services on the window under the logo, on your price list and in your bio, where you can change it whenever you like.

Blush, black and gold are popular, so they say “beauty” quickly and also blend in with every salon nearby. A deep green, a plum or a terracotta stands out more. Whatever you pick, keep the name dark enough to read on top of your own photos, because pale pink on white fades on a phone in daylight. Our article on picking colors for a logo shows how to test that.

Yes, with a compact version. Labels are small and often wrap around a curved bottle, so use your initials or just the name, in one or two solid colors, and send the printer the SVG or the PDF. Every template logo downloads in both, with black and white versions included. If you sell products under your brand, check your country's trademark register before you print anything.

Split it into the part people say and the part that explains it. For “Hair by Sofia Martin Studio”, Sofia Martin goes big and the rest goes on a smaller line, or disappears from the small versions altogether. For the profile picture, use initials, set large. Type the explaining words in the slogan field, so you can see the templates and AI designs with and without them.

Without a shop sign, your logo lives on your phone and in clients' hands: your profile picture, your booking page, business cards and maybe a magnetic sign on your car door. Make the compact version first, since that's the one people see most. A car sign is read in a moment from a distance, just like a shop sign, so keep the name big and bold there.
